STORII

Memory translated into poetry and perfume.

STORII exists as both an artistic practice emerging fragrance house.

Founded by Nefertiti Thomas-Negron, STORII is a fragrance and storytelling project rooted in memory, ritual, and transformation.

I don't make perfume about my writing — the writing and the scent are the same act. STORII began as an outlet and became a practice: memory translated into scent and into poetry, and now into painting and devotional objects. The work is how I metabolize a life, and the mediums change as I do.

The Process

"Every STORII fragrance begins as a memory or moment…"

Every STORII fragrance begins with a memory. From that memory I build the structure of the idea — the feeling, the place, the moment it has to hold — and then I translate it twice: onto the page as poetry or story, and at the bench as scent. Sometimes the writing comes first, sometimes the formula does, but they are always drawn from the same source. Each fragrance is released alongside its text because neither is complete without the other — the chapbook isn't packaging, it's the other half of the work.

Training

I am a self-taught perfumer who sought out the best teachers I could find.

For the past three years, I have built STORII at my own bench — studying materials, building dilutions, composing, revising, and learning through hundreds of trials. I deepened that foundation through study with Sarah McCartney of 4160 Tuesdays, and in France at Château du Grippault, where I attended an Institute for Art and Olfaction intensive led by Spyros Drosopoulos.

But the real training started long before the bench.

Twenty-five years of filmmaking and photography taught me how to see. A lifelong love of food and wine taught me balance — how flavors layer, how tension resolves, and how a composition becomes more than the sum of its parts.

Perfumery sits at the crossroads of all of it: the eye, the palate, memory, and story. That is where STORII lives.

I went to France to learn the rules of a language I'd been speaking in secret.

Each fragrance returns to the place its story was written

Modern Saints

Saint of the Exposed Heart

The earliest paintings in this series were made as an outlet, during a chapter of my life I’ve since closed. Returning to them now, I can see the evolution in real time: the same hand, steadier; the same imagery, transformed into saints. The aged, hand-painted labels aren’t an aesthetic choice so much as an honest one — these objects carry the years they came from. Each candle and anointing oil is a painting given a second life as ritual.

Consulting & commissions

I take on a limited number of perfumery projects each year — bespoke fragrance commissions, scent development for brands and spaces, and private workshops. Inquiries:
